"This ancestral residence dates back to before the 18th century, with the construction of the "Pavillon de chasse" and then the château in the 19th century under Napoleon III. It was owned by the Champy family, the oldest wine house in Burgundy, and its successive heirs.
Following its acquisition, major investments, a great deal of courage, physical effort, willpower and passion were required and deployed in this titanic renovation undertaking. A large part of the roof was rebuilt, central heating, air conditioning, sanitary facilities and electricity were installed, the magnificent parquet floors were restored, trompe l'oeil decoration was installed, and a pretty marquise attributed to Gustave Eiffel was preserved on the château's porch.
And to make things even more enjoyable, a swimming pool has been created in a clearing where the sun spreads its rays far and wide, welcoming bathers and sunbathers alike. Today, the château is finally coming back to life, and the reward is visible and satisfying... There are still many challenges to come, and as many lovers of old stones to welcome. Lift up your hearts!
When I was young, I was already attracted by old houses. I used to compare them to my godfather's house, where my parents and I often went. My father had grown up there and, for us, it was always a real pleasure to be welcomed there and, at the same time, I was subconsciously imbued with the charm of the house and the park where I played with my cousins. Ah, the good days!
No doubt this marvellous time was the catalyst for my desire to live in this marvellous countryside, where life is punctuated by the sound of the village church bell.
As time went by, I got closer to these places which, in my opinion, should not be forgotten or ignored, strengthening my determination to save them.
As a nurse by profession, I first came to know Tailly when I came to work on the neighbouring property. The atmosphere and the charm of the place, the smell of wild garlic in the park added to the feeling of a past rediscovered, so similar were the memories of childhood. The property was in a state of total neglect, untended and untouched by the ravages of time.
In the park, the trees have grown in an anarchic fashion, some of them more than a hundred years old, of impressive dimensions and rare species are listed in the forest guides. This freedom left to nature has allowed a whole range of wildlife to settle in and thrive. Several species of animal have thrived here, including birds, squirrels and snails, which, as a family, cross the lawns and venture very close to the house. A stream runs through the property and wild ducks come to have their frolics. There are so many furtive, privileged moments when you can see roe deer, hinds and their young.
